Aerial Yoga and Mindfulness Classes Levels 1-2 will be using the Yogapeutics® Semester Curriculum: Unselfie;

The following is Lindsey Lieneck’s (Yogapeutics creator) description of the Winter/Spring session themes and routines.

Social interactions are very impressionable upon the developing brain and upon behavior! Evidence is mounting that demonstrates the connection between emotionally intelligent social skills and academic, relationship and career outcomes. Science also backs mindfulness as a means to support better physical, mental and emotional health. Today’s kids and teens are growing up in an unprecedented time when they are spending less time observing personal interactions and more time interacting through screens, which science has demonstrated in preliminary

studies to increase depression, anxiety, poor posture, decreased range of motion of the joints, and an overall decline in physical well being. When tweens, teens and children have a solid understanding and skill set of both mindfulness and social skills (including social skills in the digital world) that reflect emotional intelligence, they are more likely to have happier, healthier lives, relationships and career/academic success.

Weekly Routines:

Each week, we will present an evidence-based mindfulness lesson on social skills for today’s child/tween. We will teach that concept not just through verbal communication, but through the aerial yoga poses, kinesthetic learning and experiential games! Each week this semester, we will practice a challenging sequence (brain challenge), learn a new aerial yoga challenge pose, discuss and play with a mindfulness theme for the week, and utilize aerial yoga and mindfulness as a means to practice mindful social self-awareness skills and tools to interact in healthy ways with others.

Class Descriptions

Special Yogis and Friend Workshops (ages 8-12)

Many parents have expressed interest in a yoga class for their neuro-different child who is physically able to maneuver in the hammocks. This class is for a student and one adult partner.  It will be a combination of yoga on the floor and in our aerial yoga hammocks.  We will often have a short art or science lesson to learn about how our brains work and practice self-calming and meditation. Workshops dates are currently TBD but will be offered on a couple of Saturdays during the Spring semester.

Little Yogis (kindergarten ages 5-8)Class size around 8 kids
